The Point Cook Cricket Club was established in May of 2006, however its heritage dates back to 1970 when the club was then known as the Altona Combined Churches Cricket Club. The club participated in the Western Suburbs United Churches Cricket Association (WSUCCA).

In the mid 1970's a change of name to the Altona High School Old Boys Cricket Club took place due to a change of playing venue. The club was now playing its home games at the Altona High School on the corner of Civic Parade and Grieve Parade in Altona.

At this stage the club set down its roots and quickly grew to have two senior sides and at times three. Unfortunately continued growth did not occur, due in part to having no suitable facilities. Although the club enjoyed playing and representing the school there were no social rooms or change rooms for the players.

After winning the WSUCCA 1992/1993 A Grade Premiership the club relocated to the Lawrie Emmins Reserve, Laverton North and was renamed the Wyndham Cricket Club. The facilities were in an atrocious state when the club first arrived, but the members worked hard and quickly improved the facilities and made a home for the club, where many social activities have taken place over the years.

The move to Laverton North allowed the club to continue to invest in its future and in 2001 the club, together with assistance from the Wyndham City Council built two practice wickets so that the club could progress further with the development of junior teams. This took place in 2002 with the arrival of the club Under 12 grade team.

The club has continued to develop and now has 4 Senior Teams and representation in all junior grades from Under 11 through to Under 17. In 2006/2007 the club became known as The Point Cook Cricket Club.

In season 2012/13 the club entered two teams into the Victorian Turf Cricket Association and had a reasonable season with the firsts and seconds both making finals in their first year in VTCA.

In season 2013/14 the club moved to its new home base at Saltwater reserve in Point Cook. Located on Point Cook Road, Saltwater reserve offers the club and its players access to brand new facilities including state of the art training, playing and social areas.

 

With the establishment of a turf wicket on oval 2 at Saltwater reserve, season 2015/16 will see the club field 4 senior teams on turf for the first time.
